Health Services for Children with Special Needs: Upcoming Public Events

Mobile Health Screening Event | Friday, October 15 | 10:00 am - 3:00 pm | 3400 Martin Luther King Jr Ave SE
Join us to receive your Health Screening hosted at National Children's Center! HSCSN enrollees and community residents can receive school-required immunizations, dental hygiene resources, as well as $25 worth of fresh produce from Martha’s Table. Each attendee will be required to wear a mask and check in prior to participating. Social distancing practices will be in effect.

Parent Advocate Leaders Group | Saturday, October 16 | 11:00 pm - 12:00 pm (ET) | Online via Zoom
PALS helps parents, caregivers, and enrollees gain tools and knowledge on ways to advocate for their children and themselves. We are partnering with Next Level Foundation on a special presentation to inform families of available resources and programs regarding trauma. This event is created to inspire and encourage leaders to organize, strategize and mobilize in unity and love.

Young Adult Support Group | Saturday, October 16 | 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm (ET) | Online via Zoom
Teens and young adults (14-26 years old) will create friendships, learn about community resources, and gain tools to learn how to make a smooth transition to adult life — whether it’s finding a job, starting college, or living on their own.

Topic: Learn about the opportunities, resources and services that DC Public Library (DCPL) has for youth.

Male Caregivers Advocacy Support Group | Wednesday, October 20 | 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm (ET) | Online via Zoom
MCAS offers a virtual safe environment to provide and receive the emotional support needed to care for a child with special health care needs. During MCAS meetings, participants share information, provide support and take part in trainings that empower them as caregivers.
