Kennedy Center Call for Submissions: THE SMALL WORKS PROJECT with Mo Willems

Friday, October 23, 2020

Sponsored by: The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts

The problems of the world are so large, they can overwhelm. But you can affect change by helping in small ways.

Did you feed your neighbor’s cat while they were in the hospital? Or visit an elderly person from outside their window? Did you bring water to protestors marching in your city? Every positive action you take, no matter how small, is important.

We want to hear YOUR Small Work Stories to show the world how small works add up.

For the next 50 weekdays, we’ll spotlight one Small Work Story and pair it with an original small artwork by Mo Willems. As a way of thanking each spotlighted storyteller’s small act, we will mail them Mo’s paired small work of art to keep!

Open to all, no matter how big or small you are—small, positive actions have no age limit!*

To submit your story: Please visit https://www.kennedy-center.org/mowillems.

You can also post your Small Work Story and see other inspiring testimonials using the #MySmallWork hashtag in your social media posts.

*Any entries featuring Small Works done by kids under the age of 18 must be submitted on their behalf by a parent or guardian. No purchase is necessary. Open to residents of the United States who are 18 years of age or older (or who are submitting on behalf of their minor child). Submissions will be accepted between August 17 – October 23, 2020. Winners will be announced every weekday between August 24 – October 30, 2020. Odds of winning depend on the number of entries received. Entries must be original and will become property of the Kennedy Center. Winning entries will be selected by the Kennedy Center and prizes will be mailed to the address provided at the time of entry. For full contest rules, please visit here. By entering the contest, you acknowledge that you’ve read these rules, so please do it!
