The DC Supporting Families Community of Practice (SF CoP) is a group of diverse stakeholders who are working together to create policies, practices and systems that support families that include a member with an intellectual or developmental disability across the life span. We come together to learn, share information, and support each other.

At our upcoming meeting we will:

  • Discuss employment and the DC Learner and Earners program
  • Q&A with DDS Director
  • Learn about Self-Direction
  • Learn more about DC ABLE Accounts

When: Friday, September 15, 2017; 9:30am-3:30pm

Where: Department on Disability Services, 250 E Street SW, Washington, DC 20024. Metro: Federal Center SW (blue/silver/orange); Bus: P6; Parking: on street (limited) or $16/day parking garage

We will provide lunch. For people who are forfeiting wages, not working full time, or will have child care or transportation costs that would be financially burdensome, we are happy to provide a stipend.

El Programa de Practica para Apoyo a las Familias de la Comunidad del Distrito de Columbia (DC Supporting Families Community of Practice ) (SF CoP, por sus siglas en inglés) es un grupo diverso de personas que representan distintos grupos de interés, quienes trabajan juntos para crear políticas, prácticas y sistemas de apoyo para familias que tenga como miembro de familia con discapacidad intelectual o del desarrollo en el transcurso de sus vidas. Nos reunimos para aprender, compartir, intercambiar experiencias y apoyarnos mutuamente.

En esta reunión:

  • Hablaremos de empleo y el programa DC Learners and Earners
  • Preguntas y respuestas con el Director de DDS
  • Aprenderemos sobre autodirección
  • Aprenderemos sobre las cuentas de ABLE
